Autumn inspired crafts- Watercolour Tree Season Cards

Whilst being crafty is ALWAYS fun, making something usable is even more satisfying. So, now's the time to start making some watercolour tree inspired cards. Trees are a fab subject for this; you can make it seasonal for a holiday-glitter is always a good christmas jazz up- or keep it neutral and use for thank you cards, well-wishing cards... anything you want!

Technique
1) Grab yourself a square of paper to paint on ~ I used acrylic paper as it was a nice and thick
2) Use an old paintbrush with hardened bristles to get a 'leafy' effect to the trees
3) Work in colour layers i.e. start with the lightest colour you want to use then buildup to darkest colours, layer by layer, to create a depth effect
4) Adding a frame~ you can buy frames for your trees but I just used a larger piece of card and cut out a frame with a Stanley knife

Tips
  • Simple but effective- I found that single tree cards always look effective
  • Adding glitter really does add a christmassy twist

Seasons
I've attached ideas for trees from all seasons. The main basis of each is colour:
    Winter= dark fir trees, Autumn= red/orange, Spring= light yellow/green, Summer= greens.

Have fun with the designs
