Homemade wreath
For years now, my neighbour and I have been creating these beautiful homemade wreaths using material from around out gardens. These are a really cheap alternative to shop bought ones which can be rather pricey and are really simple to make!
You will need:
You will need:
- Metal wreath ring
- Florist wire (green blends in best)
- Ribbon for a bow
- Decorations- I used pinecones, cinnamon bundles, pheasant feathers and dried oranges
- Fir tree greenery
Method:
- Cut the fir branches to small manageable pieces and lay them (all in the same direction) around the ring. As you do so, secure them in place using wire (do not cut the wire; do it in one continuous piece). You can alter how wide the wreath is by the angling of the branches. Ensure all the base is covered and hide the wire as well as possible.
- Lay the decorations on top and arrange them as you like. It is best to work in groups of three in order to keep the circular wreath shape.
- Tie each decoration with a separate piece of wire and thread this all the way through the green base and secure the wire at the back.
- Add a bow at the base (also attached by wire) and trim to length.
- Attach a piece of string to the ring at the back to hang on a nail in the door.
- Hang it up and admire your work :)
